Why ‘sensational’? Well, through my rose tinted September lens, I see a beautiful landscape that blends the last of the summer sun with the beautiful goldenness of early autumn. In this special month we particularly see the harmonious fusion of colours set against bright blue skies.
My wardrobe hangs onto summer clothes as long as possible, but the shorts are joined by a cosy cashmere hoodie! Supper outside is taken beside a firepit. Salads move from cool to warm, a chilled rose becomes a silky red and a gentle stroll becomes a fast walk! These are gentle little tweaks that I make to ease myself into a change of season and I love the transition.

We have a beautiful walk near us that takes us to a windmill and high vantage point on The South Downs. I love it because it offers such a perspective of a bigger space with a view of miles and as well as being part of creation, the sense of horizon and possibility sparks imagination and makes challenges or whatever’s on our minds seem smaller. On our way we gather blackberries and the fact that they’re not near a road adds to their beautiful flavour and my annual haul finds its way to bramble jam and the blackberry vodka that gets enjoyed over the winter months. Here’s my tipple recipe:
If you’d like to shake up your skincare routine this month, and it’s a good idea after the long hot summer, something that you will love (if you haven’t tried it yet) is my and the lovely Nigella Lawson’s personal favourite cleanser IN THE BEGINNING. It’s not called a ‘spa in a jar’ for no good reason. Its fragrance is so uplifting and completely delicious, the balm texture sinks deep down into the pores lifting impurities, debris, pollution and the days grime, whilst the clever crystal beads melt as they polish, leaving the skin clean, hydrated and glowing. We have a marvellous offer which if you already love this product will be a tempting treat and if you’ve yet to try it will give you £15 off if you spend just £40.
Another Nigella favourite is PALM BALM. She asked me what the incredible fragrance was and once I explained it was Lavender, Lemon and Bergamot she instantly recognised it. We love to make this available in September every year with a special treat price. Called skincare for the hands, it has a beautiful hydrating yet easily absorbed texture that leaves the hands feeling treated and smooth. Purchase one and you will receive a second half price, a great way to stock up, pop in a couple of places or keep on stand-by for a pressie.
Well I trust you will have a sensational September and enjoy the Indian summer
With love
