Do you feel like you’ve already climbed a mountain by your morning coffee? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Mornings can be hectic, especially if you have school-age children. Here are some tips to ease your morning routine and get you out of the house on time, in one piece and perhaps even looking polished...

Get enough sleep

While most of us don’t spring out of bed in the morning, getting up on time is an even bigger challenge when you have had a bad night’s sleep, so make getting 7-9 hours of sleep a night a priority.  This may seem like a tedious (and sometimes unrealistic) task but giving your body the rest it needs is essential to your general wellbeing. Here are some tips to help you drift off or follow our bedtime regime and you may actually find yourself enjoying the process of going to bed.

Organise your everyday essentials

When you think about your daily routine, how much time is actually spent applying products to your face and how much time goes into trying to find the product you want to use? Keeping your skincare and make-up products organised and easily accessible will speed up your routine and make that 5 minute face achievable.

Fake awakeness

There are numerous skincare and make-up products that you should keep in your stash for days when you want to look radiant and awake in a flash.

GLOWING WELL Illuminating Primer is the perfect product for when you’ve got to step out and look amazingly fabulous! Flooded with antioxidant vitamin E, our unique liqui-gel glides on effortlessly to give you the perfect illuminating base or a natural glow on its own. Dab onto cheeks, temples and forehead for instant radiance and to re-energise and revive skin.

For mornings when you need to cover up a poor night’s sleep, rely on your eye cream as well as your concealer to look as though you’ve had 8 hours of sleep. WINDOWS OF THE SOUL is an eye treatment cream that hydrates and soothes the eye area. It reduces the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, refreshes tired eyes and tightens and tones the eye area. For an added boost of refreshment, keep your eye cream in the fridge. The cooling effect helps to reduce morning puffiness around the eye area.

GLINT Shadow Concealer is just the thing to banish telltale signs of daily fatigue or too many late nights. The shadow concealer targets and covers up dark circles, shadows, imperfections and fine lines. It glides on and blends easily to jumpstart your complexion in a flash!

Plan your outfit

Wearing an outfit that makes us feel amazing never fails to put a spring in our step, so lay out your outfit the night before, that way you won’t waste time deciding what to wear or end up wearing something that you don’t feel comfortable in. If in doubt, opt for a one piece so you don’t have to worry about matching multiple items.

Double duty your products

When time is of the essence, look for products with multiple uses. For example, combine your moisturiser and suncream into one step with a moisturiser that contains SPF. LIFE DEFENCE SPF30 and LIFE DEFENCE SPF50 are our two feather-light moisturisers with SPF to help protect against UVA & UVB damage, plus an antioxidant complex of rocket, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid to protect against skin-ageing free radicals, environmental damage and daily stress. Apply your moisturiser while your skin is still slightly damp, not only will this save time between steps but it will help to soften skin as damp skin absorbs product better.

Create charts

If one of your barriers to getting out of the door is distracted children then using a chart is a great way to keep them focused and adds fun to everyday tasks such as getting dressed, eating breakfast, putting on shoes etc. Having things organised has the added bonus of helping you to stay calm which should make tasks run smoother for both you and your children.

Simplify your haircare regime

To streamline your morning beauty routine, opt for no-heat hairstyles such as heatless curls, which can be prepped the night before, or a sophisticated ponytail. Not only will they save you time but using less heat styling products will improve the condition of your hair.

Start small, be consistent and the results will follow. The best morning routine is one you can actually stick to.
