Are your eyes feeling tired and strained from staring at the screen all day? We live in a digital era and more so than ever, our eyes are taking the pressure. That’s why Eye Yoga is the new buzz-word exercise being talked about in the wellness industry.


So what is Eye Yoga?

It is an exercise using only eye movements than can help strengthen and relieve the muscles in your eye area. Imagine going for a run without warming up your muscles, that’s what eye yoga helps with when starting a working day in front of a screen.

We’ll be exploring different eye yoga exercises you can do at home right now and a few TEMPLESPA products to help you along the way.


Exercise 1

Eye Rolling

Start with your eyes staring straight ahead and rotate your eyes towards the ceiling. Then roll your eyes to the far right, to the floor, to the far left then back to the ceiling before moving your eyes straight ahead. Repeat 2-4 times and switch up the directions.


Exercise 2 


A great exercise for a moment of calm too! Rub your hands together for 15 seconds until warmed and energised. Then place your hands over your eyes with your fingertips on your forehead, palms over the eyes and heels of the hands resting on your cheeks. Close your eyes, breathe deeply and relax. This helps to calm and rest the eyes – and it works particularly well at the end of the day too! Gently blink your eyes open when ready.


Exercise 3 

Focus Shifting

We use this exercise to improve our focus and it’s so easy to do. Stick your left hand out as far as it will go and raise your thumb in a thumbs-up. Focus your eyes on your thumb while your slowly move it towards your nose until you can no longer focus on it. Pause and then lengthen the arm back to its original position while maintaining focus on the thumb. Repeat up to 10 times.

Bonus Exercise!

Eye Massage

It wouldn’t be TEMPLESPA without a massage! At the start and end of the day we recommend using our EYE THERAPIST to massage the eye area with WINDOWS OF THE SOUL. Pump one drop of WINDOWS OF THE SOUL onto your ring fingers then pat around the eye area. Take our EYE THERAPIST and gently roll the cold metal massagers around your eyes in circular motions. This helps to depuff and soothe the eye area.


You can repeat all of these exercises at the end of your working day to calm and adjust your eyes away from a screen. We love to finish the day with a palming exercise to bring some warmth and relax our eye muscles!
